Terms & conditions
The rules for using this website — including the important bit that our estimator and calculator outputs are indicative, not quotations.
Key point
Everything our free tools produce — budgets, quantities, fees — is an indicative range for planning only. A quotation is only ever valid in writing from us, under a written appointment.
1. Who we are
This website is operated by Abidia Engineering ("Abidia", "we", "us"), a civil and structural engineering consultancy established in 2010, contactable at info@abidia.co.za and 083 470 2027.
By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. What this site is for
The site exists to describe our services, show projects we have delivered, let you download our company profile, and provide free planning tools for prospective clients.
Content is provided for general information about our practice. It is not engineering, technical, financial or legal advice, and it does not create a professional relationship between us.
3. Estimates, calculators and briefs
Our cost estimator, quantity calculator and brief builder are indicative planning tools. The numbers they produce are rough ranges based on typical South African rates and the inputs you provide — they are not a quotation, a fee agreement, a bill of quantities or certified quantities.
Do not use these outputs to make financial commitments, place orders or enter into contracts. A formal fee and programme follow a proper scope review and, where needed, a site visit, and are confirmed only in writing by us.
Similarly, anything generated by the website assistant (chat) is general guidance and never a commitment, quotation or professional opinion.
4. Engineering appointments
No engineering service is appointed through this website. Any appointment is subject to a written agreement, our standard terms of engagement, scope, fee and programme, and the applicable requirements of the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and other relevant authorities.
Projects, values and clients shown in our portfolio are illustrative of past work; some values are withheld or disclosed with client permission.
5. Intellectual property
The site — including its design, text, logos, project photography, the company profile PDF and the source of the planning tools — belongs to Abidia or is used with permission. You may download and print the company profile and reasonable extracts for your own evaluation of us.
You may not reproduce, resell, scrape, republish or commercially exploit any part of the site without our written consent, nor remove any copyright or accreditation notice (including ECSA, SAICE and B-BBEE marks, which remain the property of their owners).
6. Acceptable use
You must not use the site for anything unlawful or harmful: attempting to gain unauthorised access, introducing malicious code, overloading the site, harvesting personal information, impersonating another person, or submitting false or defamatory content through our forms or chat.
We may suspend or block access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.
7. Accuracy and availability
We take reasonable care to keep content accurate and current, but we do not warrant that anything on the site is complete, error-free or always available. Services, project data and rates change over time.
The site may be updated, suspended or withdrawn at any time without notice. Links to third-party sites (including Google Maps and WhatsApp) are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Abidia is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website or the tools on it — including loss of profit, data or business opportunity, whether direct, indirect or consequential.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for gross negligence or fraud.
9. Your personal information
We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Please read our POPIA notice and privacy policy for details on what we collect, why, and how you can exercise your rights.
10. Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of Mpumalanga (including the High Court sitting in Johannesburg) have jurisdiction over any dispute.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page applies, and continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. Last updated October 2026.
